Have you ever wondered why so many people “talk” about building an online business, yet they never get started?

Perhaps you have seen articles online about successful bloggers who earn thousands of dollars per day or you’ve looked at various websites created by a wide variety of business owners who decided to expand their business via the Internet but never thought it could happen to you.

You know this is where it is all going, right?

And yet, you just haven’t put yourself into this picture…

You have thought about making your move to the “net” however something has stopped you from taking the plunge.

Perhaps this post can help.

You see … I was “on the fence” for several years.

I had been considering the possibilities of taking a shot at building my own website, becoming a blogger, writing eBooks, selling other people’s products or services (affiliate marketing) and so on, but there were all these questions and crazy thoughts that kept running through my mind.

There were questions that needed answers.

I had to take a more serious look at the possibilities offered by this new and exciting business model.

It all boiled down to 7 common questions about why I was not moving forward with my own online business and why most people never build an online business.

Actually, the truth of the matter is this:

“You can make excuses for not doing something good in life, but there is not one reason for you to fail if you will just get after it!”

Here are 7 Common Reasons Why Most People Never Build an Online Business … What’s Holding You Back?

# 1 You think building a website, or a blog is not possible for you.

This is what I thought at first.

I didn’t think I could do it, it seemed so complicated and way out of my comfort zone.

How could I build a website?  I don’t even know where to begin.

Then I started to do some research on this and discovered how easy it really could be, especially with all the advancements that have been made in this field in recent years.

WordPress kept popping up throughout my searches.

This is the biggie.

WordPress is the web giant that’s head and shoulders above all the rest when it comes to websites and blogging.

It’s a website creation tool and content management system that has become one of the easiest to use in the world of internet marketing.  It has to be installed on a web server such as an internet hosting service or a network host.

There are thousands of website “templates” and tutorials with full support behind them making it possible for beginners (like me) or even the more advanced web builders to put up a website or blog of your own in literally minutes.

You have probably seen the TV ads and online marketing spots for building your own website or a blog, right?

There are a number of them including well-known companies such as GoDaddy, however, our research has found that your best bet is to to use WordPress because of the tremendous amount of templates and support you’ll receive.

What About Hosting Your Site?

WordPress works with several companies that will not only allow you to use their templates and support services but they also offer hosting and great training, which is in our opinion the very best and easiest way for you to go.

NOTE:  According to recent statistics, WordPress powers over 30% of the Internet.

I have spent a great deal of time and money researching this so here are my recommendations.

We have boiled it down to just two sources:

#1 If you want to go it alone or utilize a variety of training and support programs to help you with your blogging and website marketing, we suggest you hook up with the king of the hill hosting and support company Bluehost.

#2 Bluehost is a preferred service of many of the top income earners in the blogging and website marketing industry.  We give Bluehost a 5 out of 5 Stars in our hosting and support services category, so you cannot go wrong with choosing Bluehost for all your website hosting.

Bluehost also has an exceptional affiliate program should you wish to pick up some extra money by sharing this 5 Star service with your visitors and readers.

# 2  You Don’t Have Proper Guidance

You can simply refer to the # 1 Reason and the suggestions listed therein or you could go through what I did for several months.

I spent a lot of time “on my own”, trying to see if I could find the answers to my questions by going through the process of finding the best online “guru” who could tell me what I needed, how to use the tools they were recommending and – which way I should go with my online business.

All I did was waste time and money and become more frustrated than you could imagine.

Don’t do that.

Cut to chase and get on with it.

The truth is, you need proper guidance but you don’t need all the hype and promises that some of these online hustlers toss at you.

The proper guidance doesn’t (or should not) cost you an arm and a leg.  You need, in my humble opinion, some honest to goodness help from people who have “been-there-done-that” and are willing to teach you everything they know using a common language.

We’re talking about people who are making great money online that will be here for you years from now.  This is what we all need, not the hype, not the big four and five-figure courses so many of them are selling.

Hey – Just give me a good set of Bootcamp Training modules and answer my questions when they pop up, a low monthly fee (or free) and I’ll be good to go!

Reason number two on our list of the 7 reasons why most people never build an online business is “proper guidance” – because we all need it.

Even the most successful bloggers still seek guidance when they need it.

We’re all learning as this amazing global phenomenon called the Internet continues to grow and expand so we will continue to require proper guidance.

Here at affiliate income magic, we will always do our best to point you in the right direction for the answers and guidance you need so failure is NOT an option for you.

You can earn a little or you can earn a lot as a blogger and online business owner, but be sure you get the “proper guidance” before you get started and you’ll save yourself a lot of time, money and energy.

# 3  You Don’t Believe You’re a Good Writer

I remember saying this to myself, in fact – I still do!

What I have discovered though is an interesting fact…

You don’t have to be a great or writer to make money or to have fun as a blogger!

Take a look at this …

“His Misspelled Words, Usage of Poor Grammar and Lack of Sentence Structure Did Not Stop Him From Becoming One of The Highest Paid Online Business Owners Within Our Industry!”

I’m not going to give you his name (I would probably have to pay him royalties if I did, LOL)  – plus I don’t want to embarrass him, or infringe on his privacy.

He is a good friend of ours and most people know him, especially if they have been involved in any form of network marketing or online sales training in recent years.

He has been a consistent 7 figure earner for several years now and continues to build more websites and sell more goods and services online than anyone we know.

I read somewhere that he now owns and operates (with a good size staff) more than 50 websites and blogs!

I remember being in one of his live workshops about a dozen years or so ago.

The workshop was on how to build a large successful network marketing income using direct mail and postcards.

This was before he began focusing most of his business ventures online.

One of the members of the audience raised his hand and asked him if he used an “editor”.  When he told him no, the man shouted out (there were over 1,000 people in attendance) – –

“I think you could use one, you have misspelled several words in the examples you passed out.”

You could have heard a pin drop in that room after he said this.

Then, in our mega-successful friend’s amazing and well-documented style, he began a twenty-minute talk on why people really don’t care how well you can spell or write.

He said;  “The truth is all they really care about is what’s in it for them and who will help them reach their goals and make their dreams come true!”

He also said the people who bring this up in workshops, through email or phone calls to his office are almost always – people who are broke!

He went on to say;

“Those who read my material and follow in my foot-steps make money… so who gives a darn if I write or spell all the words correctly?!”

He has a point.

However, it is very easy today to look better than ever as a writer thanks to the technology and programs available to us – especially with our selected online service and training provider, Wealthy Affiliate.

As a Premium Member of Wealthy Affiliate, you can create all your pages and posts for your blog or website within Site Content, the ultimate writing platform.

This is an incredible tool that performs about 120 different editing tasks for you, such as spell checker, grammar and tons more.

This is like having your own personal editor without the high cost.

This is just one of the many great tools you will have at your disposal with Wealthy Affiliate.

This special tool is worth a fortune to you and it is “included” with your Premium Membership.

So don’t let your thought of not being a good writer stop you from all the wonderful benefits that await you as an online business owner or blogger.

# 4 You Don’t Trust Online Training Programs

Welcome to the club!

Me neither, but then you’ve heard about my trip through the online maze of gurus and hustlers who only wish to line their pockets with YOUR money.

It’s true though, this was reason # 4 in our research on why most people never build an online business of their own.

I get it, I know that it’s hard to trust an online training guru or training program.

There are so many of them with new ones popping up almost daily.  No wonder it’s hard to locate the right one for you – not to mention, how can you trust them?

This is our response to this all-important question, or reason why NOT to become a blogger.

Join Wealthy Affiliate and test drive it for as long as you wish AT NO COST OR OBLIGATION.

This is how I started and I can tell you from my experience, it was one of the best moves I ever made in this business.

I have seen a lot of offers to test drive programs that couldn’t offer a tenth of what Wealthy Affiliate offers and most of them will only give you a free 30-day trial and in most cases they want you to give them your credit card information.

With a great system like Wealthy Affiliate, you can get started  for free, without any stress or pressure of any kind, stay at that level as long as you wish and once you are ready to move up to the only other level available (Premium Membership) you will be thrilled at the low cost of just $49  per month (even less if paid annually – this includes hosting and all the tools available within WA’s platform) .

# 5 You Don’t Have Time or Money to Learn How to Build Your Online Business

Most of us know what it takes to start and operate a “traditional” brick and mortar business.

It only makes sense that we would believe the same could be true when it comes to creating and building a successful online business.

Your dreams of building a profitable business can be the most important part of creating an online business that could bring you all the success and peace of mind you may be after.

If you own a computer and can set aside an hour or two a few days a week, you can make a go of it.

In my case, it started with a decent laptop with Windows 10 and an Internet connection and a couple of early morning hours four days a week.

The desire to succeed was there, the money was a consideration, as was the time to invest because, in truth, I had very little of both.

I can tell you that the lack of personal capital or a lot of extra time on your hands should not stop you from pursuing your dreams of creating a successful online business.

In fact, it is entirely possible to start and grow an online business with very little capital and only a modest amount of spare time… I am living proof of this.

With my laptop and just a couple of hours a day, 4 days a week,  I was able to start my online business launching my own piece of Internet Real Estate, affiliate income magic.

That’s right, Internet Real Estate.

Even if you build a blog or website in your time as a “hobby” you will be creating a valuable piece of Internet Real Estate.  One of the WA members recently sold one of his websites for $40,000 – not bad!

There are bloggers who have sites that are worth many times that amount, so while you may be thinking solely about creating a blog or website that could be bringing in a few hundred or somewhere in the many thousands of dollars each day, your time learning and building your own online presence is worth much more than you can imagine.

I knew that I wanted to create and sell eBooks and I wanted to learn how to build my own website where I could sell my products, and perhaps do some affiliate marketing in addition to marketing my own products.

I heard that I could bring in some good additional profits with my online business.

I spent a great deal of my spare time looking at online training programs, as I mentioned.  I had been searching for one that I could afford.

I found Wealthy Affiliate during my many Google, Yahoo and Bing Searches.  One of my Google searches led me to a blog that had a review in it about one of the online training programs I was about to get involved with.

Before I joined at the $25 trial period, I decided to do a search on the two owners of that program.  This is where I found the site that contained the review on that platform.

It did not paint a picture of that system as a scam or the owners being online hustlers, instead, it gave all the facts of how costly it would be and how they actually worked their training modules.

The writer also explained what he was doing and how his success came without such a high cost as a Wealthy Affiliate Premium Member.

I was directed to his WA affiliate site and my decision to join WA was easy.

After joining Wealthy Affiliate and going through a few of the free training modules, I knew this was the program I was looking for.

Not having time or money was no longer an excuse I could use.

I could work at my own pace and do it at no cost until I was ready to move up to the Premium membership.

I started out as a FREE member and I decided to get up an hour earlier every day for 4-5 days a week so I could go through the training and perform the tasks WA would provide.

I was thrilled to see that WA used WordPress templates within their platform and that they did all the hosting as well for the small monthly Premium Membership fee they charged.

They also backed up my website automatically so I did not have to worry about losing any of my work.

So time and money, as mentioned above is really no excuse any longer for not becoming a successful blogger or website owner.

# 6 You Don’t Have Any Idea What Kind of Niche You Should Blog About

The word “niche” in the online world simply refers to a specific topic or subject you have selected to blog or write about.

You could sell products in a specific “niche” category, such as cooking, travel, electronics, eBooks, and more.

There are all kinds of topics you can choose from.  Once you settle in on what you have a passion for or feel could be profitable for you, this will become your “niche”.

When I was getting started with my training at Wealthy Affiliate one of the first things I learned was how to develop my “niche”.

The training I received was extremely easy to follow and gave me pin-point directions on how to create and maintain a “niche” that would allow me to spread my online wings.

I suddenly realized that there were so many directions I could go with blogging and website marketing that I would never run out of things to write about, products to sell or ways to earn money online.

Bloggers have two choices.
  1.     They can write about all kinds of things or
  2.     They can zero in on what really interests them.

An example of this would be my own site.

Affiliateincomemagic.com is a site that is focused on one thing.

How you can make money as an affiliate marketer and how to avoid online scams and hustlers.

I am focused on helping my readers to become successful online business owners.

Along with good content, we also include helpful tools and services that we recommend.  Some of which will help provide us with some good income that allows us to continue running our online business.

I have a “niche” that I am excited and passionate about, which makes it fun and easy for me to create more and more content regarding my passion.

I also enjoy searching the web to see what others are blogging about.

Some people believe it is too late for them to start blogging about a topic they are passionate about because as they search the web, they see many websites already talking about what they are passionate about.

Let Me Explain Something Important to you …

I know there may be hundreds, perhaps even thousands of bloggers or websites on the Internet that are focused on affiliate marketing, like we are.

However, as the old saying goes – there’s always room for one more!

And truth be known, no one can tell it or sell like me (or you).

I’m hoping you don’t think I’m bragging because I’m not.

I want you to realize that variety is the spice of life and in the online world, there are so many people who need to hear from you, and so many ways to reach your audience,  you could become as successful as you want no matter what your “niche” is as long as you are unique and different  and …

You keep going!

The longer your blog or website is in existence and the more content you continue to add, the greater your chances for success becomes.

Take time right now to write down all the things you are interested in and passionate about.  When I did this exercise for the first time, I came up with about 20 items.

Then as I started to read over my list, I thought about several more.  The list actually triggered my thought process and all of a sudden I became a “niche” machine!

I think you will too if you give it a shot.

Just do it – grab a pen and paper and start listing your favorite products, services, hobbies,  things you love to talk about or would enjoy sharing with others.

Have some fun with this.

Once you get started you will see that the idea of what to blog or write about is endless!  You could earn a lot of money sharing your passion with millions of other people who are interested in the same things you are.

# 7 You don’t know how to build traffic through email and social media.

Guess what?

I didn’t know where I was going to find an audience for my eBook(s) and website when I got started either.

Get this in your mind.  There are just two things you need to do to make money online:

  •     Create a Blog or Your Own Website
  •     Become an Affiliate of Other Products, Services, and other               Online Marketers

This is not hard.  Sure, it may take some time (refer to reason # 5) but the rewards can be so amazing that I would encourage you to get started today on your blogging or online business career.

The income potential is greater than you can imagine.  However, the best part of blogging or website ownership is the satisfaction you will gain from accomplishing something that, until now, you may have thought only belonged to others.

Think about it… you, a successful blogger or a website owner who is changing other people’s lives in a way that only you could do.

What hit me hard when I began my journey as a website owner was the fact that there could be millions of people around the globe waiting to see what I had to say!

You can do it too.  Go for it, you’ll be glad you did.

  1. These are all great tips on why people say they can’t build an online business.

I believe the two main reasons is self doubt and not having proper guidance.

Many peopl will think they can’t do it so they don’t try, or they will try but be following bad advice and still fail.

So if you have confidence you can do it and follow a proven method that work — you can easily build a online business.

    1. Thanks Michael for taking time to comment on our post.  You summed it up nicely, confidence and following proven steps is key!

  2. I think you have just described all of the reasons I have not yet built a blog or website. I was very aware of some of them but others you brought to my mind and made me aware of them. Finding something solid online in terms of training is hard work. I’ve spent way too much on other programs.
Can you tell me how much Wealthy Affiliate will cost me after my free trial please?

    1. Hi Karen, thanks for stopping by.  I’m glad we were able to stir up some interest for you, I know you can do well and to answer your question about cost for moving to Premium, it is just $49 a month, which includes all the training, hosting, tools and a community of like-minded folks who are always there to help you.

Another great benefit of WA is the affiliate income opportunity.  WA has one of the highest paying affiliate commission plans in the industry.

So you get to “earn while you learn”.

      Good luck to you!
